During the first five Persian calendar months of 2025 (March 21 to August 22), Iranian steel exports performed strongly across multiple sectors, including semi-finished products, plates, and raw materials. According to statistics from the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), exports of semi-finished products increased by 25% year-on-year, reaching nearly 3.2 million tons. Exports of billets and large billets increased by 14% to 2.3 million tons, while slab exports surged by 64% to 872,000 tons. In contrast, exports of finished steel products decreased by 7% year-on-year, slightly exceeding 1.4 million tons. Long steel product exports declined by 26% to approximately 1 million tons, affected by factors such as the loss of major markets like Iraq, exchange rate fluctuations, and local policies. During the fifth Persian month (July 22 – August 22), Iranian steel exports saw significant growth across almost all sectors. Exports of billets and large billets increased from 78,000 tons to 218,000 tons that month, while plate exports jumped from 38,000 tons to 130,000 tons. In the raw materials sector, iron ore concentrate exports surged 81.2% to 926,000 tons, while DRI/HBI exports increased from 89,000 tons to 198,000 tons.
