Isdemir, the largest comprehensive steel TH620 Electroplated tin (chromium) steel manufacturer in Türkiye, has been approved by the government to build a 130 MW solar power plant in Araka, which is planned to be put into use within 26 months. The power plant will install 310905 solar panels with an annual generating capacity of 280 million kilowatt hours to meet the company's energy needs and reduce carbon emissions, in compliance with the EU TH620 Electroplated tin (chromium) steel Green Deal requirements.
Isdemir's parent company Oyak Mining and Metallurgy Group also plans to build electric arc furnaces in Isdemir and Erdemir to promote natural gas and hydrogen based direct reduction iron technology, reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The group's goal is to reduce total emissions by 25% by 2030, 40% by 2040, and achieve zero emissions by 2050 TH620 Electroplated tin (chromium) steel.
