According to Indonesian trade statistics, the country's hot-rolled coil (HRC) exports reached 252,000 tonnes in April 2026, marking a month-on-month increase of 44.8% and a year-on-year surge of 2.3 times. In terms of destinations, exports to Italy totaled 83,000 tonnes (up 80.8% year-on-year); Belgium received 62,000 tonnes (up 6.6 times); Portugal took 49,000 tonnes (compared to just 200 tonnes in the same period last year); and Poland received 42,000 tonnes (up 4.8 times). Europe remained the primary market. Regarding the Asian market, exports to Malaysia amounted to 7,600 tonnes, with the average price rising by nearly $50 year-on-year to $524 per tonne (FOB).
Cumulatively, Indonesia's total hot-rolled coil (HRC) exports reached 886,000 tonnes from January to April, a 150% year-on-year increase representing a volume gain of approximately 530,000 tonnes. Indonesia's HRC export volume for the 2025 calendar year is projected to reach 2.3 million tonnes, nearly six times the 330,000 tonnes recorded in 2024. Exports have remained high throughout the year; based on the annualized rate from January to April, the full-year total is estimated at approximately 2.7 million tonnes. If this pace is maintained, Indonesia is poised to surpass Taiwan and become the fourth-largest HRC exporter in Asia.
