Malaysia makes anti-dumping sunset review final ruling on cold-rolled iron or non alloy steel coils related to China

On June 21, 2025, the LR/B steel Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia announced the first anti-dumping day review final ruling on Cold Rolled Coils of Iron or Non Aluminum Steel with a width greater than or equal to 1300 millimeters originating from or imported from China, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam. The final ruling is affirmative for the products involved in China and Japan, and the anti-dumping duties on the products involved in China and Japan will continue to be levied for a period of 5 years, as follows: Chinese producer/exporter Angang Steel Company Limited is 4.82%, Maanshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd is 4.76%, Shougang is 4.76%, Shougang Jingtang United Iron&Steel Co., Ltd 8.74%, 26.38% for other Chinese producers/exporters, and 26.39% for Japanese producers/exporters. This measure will take effect from June 23, 2025 and expire on June 22, 2030; At the same time, a negative final ruling was made on the anti-dumping sunset review of the products involved in South Korea and Vietnam, ruling to terminate the imposition of anti-dumping duties on the products involved in South Korea and Vietnam from June 23, 2025, and to terminate the investigation.

On March 29, 2019, LR/B steel Malaysia initiated an anti-dumping investigation into cold-rolled steel coils with a width greater than or equal to 1300 millimeters originating from or imported from China, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. On December 26, 2019, the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry issued a final anti-dumping ruling on the case, deciding to impose anti-dumping duties on the products involved in the above-mentioned countries for a period of 5 years, which are 4.76% -26.38% for China, 26.39% for Japan, 0-3.84% for South Korea, and 7.70% -20.13% for Vietnam. This measure will come into effect on December 25, 2019 and expire on December 24, 2024. The Malaysian Coordinated Tariff Number and ASEAN Coordinated Tariff Code of the products involved are 7209.15.00.00, 7209.16.90.00, 7209.17.90.00, 7209.18.99.00, and 7225.590.00.

On December 24, 2024, the Malaysian LR/B steel Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry announced the initiation of the first anti-dumping sunset review investigation on cold-rolled steel coils with a width greater than or equal to 1300 millimeters originating from or imported from China, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam, in response to an application submitted by Mycron Steel CRC Sdn. Bhd., a domestic production enterprise in Malaysia. The products involved do not include tin plated black steel plates and cold-rolled steel coils used for automotive and finned transformer terminals. The Malaysian Harmonized Tariff Number and ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Code of the products involved are 7209.15.00 00, 7209.16.90 00, 7209.17.90 00, and 7209.18.99 00.
