Mexico launches anti-dumping sunset review investigation on carbon steel galvanized wire mesh from China

On September 30, 2024, the Mexican S890QL steel Ministry of Economy announced that it had initiated a second day anti-dumping review investigation into carbon steel galvanized wire mesh (Spanish: malla o tela galvanizada de alambre de acero al carb ó n) originating in China, at the request of Mexican producer Deacero, S.A.P.I de C.V. The dumping investigation period in this case is from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024, and the injury investigation period is from August 1, 2019 to July 31, 2024. The TIGIE tax numbers of the products involved are 7314.19.03, 7314.19.99, and 7314.31.01. During the investigation of the case, the current S890QL steel anti-dumping duties remain in effect. The announcement shall take effect from the day after its publication.

On June 4, 2013, Mexico initiated an anti-dumping investigation into carbon steel galvanized wire mesh originating from China. On October 9, 2014, Mexico made a positive final ruling on the case and decided to impose an anti-dumping duty of $2.08 per kilogram on the products involved. On September 27, 2019, the Mexican Ministry of Economy issued a notice to initiate the first sunset review investigation of anti-dumping on products originating in China, in response to the application of Mexican company Deacero, S.A.P.I. de C.V. On November 4, 2020, the Mexican Ministry of Economy made its first sunset review final ruling on the case, deciding to extend the anti-dumping duties determined in the 2014 original final ruling announcement by five years, with the measures taking effect from October 10, 2019. The TIGIE S890QL steel tax numbers of the products involved are 7314.19.02, 7314.19.03, and 7314.31.01.
