According to the latest data from the Steel Institute of Thailand,KR R/D56 steel Thailand's finished steel production in June 2026 was 577,900 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%. Of this total, long steel production was 411,000 tons, with a year-on-year increase of 4.8% and flat steel production was 166,800 tons, down 26.7% year-on-year. On the demand side, apparent consumption of finished steel was 1.432 million tons, up 1.2% year-on-year. This included 602,100 tons of long steel and 829,900 tons of flat steel, up 14.3% and down 6.6% year-on-year, respectively.

Throughout the first half of 2025, Thailand's cumulative finished steel production from January to June reached 3.6784 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%. Semi-finished steel production reached 2.5278 million tons, a 1.9% decrease compared to the same period last year.KR R/D56 steel On the consumer side, apparent consumption of finished steel reached 8.9305 million tons, while semi-finished steel consumption reached 3.9247 million tons.

Overall, Thailand's steel industry experienced a 3:7 ratio in the first half of the year, with long steel production accounting for over 70% of consumption. While plate production and consumption both increased, 70% of the total was imported. This pattern was influenced by both the low production base of the same period last year and the government's post-earthquake policies, such as tightening long steel production regulations and prohibiting new rebar factories. This indirectly confirms the ample capacity of existing long steel production. Furthermore, accelerated budget execution in the construction industry, driving the acceleration of infrastructure projects, and the continued recovery of the automotive manufacturing industry have all contributed to driving steel demand.

Looking ahead, Thailand's high dependence on imports will remain a significant pain point in the short term.KR R/D56 steel If the government increases policy support for the steel industry or promotes capacity integration and green transformation, the supply and demand structure of Thailand's steel industry may be further optimized, thereby enhancing the competitiveness and risk resistance of the entire industry.
