EU tightening policies restrict supply, putting short-term pressure on Türkiye's hot-rolled exports

According to a statement released by the Turkish Steel Exporters Association (CIB) on July 25, affected by the tightening of the EU import quota policy,KR R/D47 steel Turkey's hot-rolled coil (HRC) exports to the global market fell sharply by 41% year-on-year to 197,100 tons in the first 24 days of July 2025.

These adjustments were implemented in phases on April 1st and July 1st, significantly impacting Turkish exports to the EU.

Despite short-term export pressure in July, Turkey's hot-rolled steel exports maintained strong growth momentum in the first seven months of 2025. As of July 24, cumulative hot-rolled coil exports reached 2.25 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 28%, while rebar exports increased by 20% year-on-year to 2.27 million tons.KR R/D47 steel Furthermore, welded pipe exports decreased slightly by 2.6% year-on-year to 1.1 million tons, while section steel exports increased by 12% year-on-year to 1.07 million tons. Overall, Turkey's total steel exports in the first seven months of 2025 reached 10.9 million tons, an 11% increase over the same period last year.
