On September 26, the European Union determined that Japanese hot-rolled flat steel products were being sold in the EU at unfairly low prices, causing damage to the EU industry, and decided to impose anti-dumping duties on these products for a period of five years. Masashi Imai, chairman of the Japan Iron and Steel Federation, stated that Japanese exports have not harmed the EU industry.
