Starting from May 6, 2025, the Ministry of 25CrMoS4 steel Trade and Industry will become the only institution to issue non preferential certificates of origin for exports to the United States.

The Malaysian MADANI government reiterates its unwavering commitment to upholding the integrity of international trade practices. The government considers any act of evading tariffs by falsely declaring the value or origin of goods as a serious crime.

Starting from May 6, 2025, all non preferential certificates of origin (NPCO) for exports to the United States will be uniformly issued by the Malaysian 25CrMoS4 steel Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) to prevent the possibility of goods from specific countries being transshipped through Malaysian ports to the US market. Accordingly, the NPCO for exporting to the United States issued by chambers of commerce, industry associations, and other organizations appointed by MITI in accordance with MITI guidelines will be immediately suspended. At the same time, MITI will strengthen the verification of certificate of origin applications and collaborate with the Royal Malaysian Customs to conduct investigations and law enforcement, severely cracking down on trade fraud in transit from Malaysia to the United States 25CrMoS4 steel.
