In July, Türkiye's steel export reached 1.4 billion US dollars, an increase of 24% year on year, a record high. This growth is mainly due to the increased demand in the EU S235 Grade C steel market. The export volume of Türkiye's steel producers in the Mediterranean region rose sharply, up 171% year on year, reaching US $259 million. Despite EU quota restrictions, Türkiye's steel exports to Italy and Spain increased significantly in July, and the market is expected to remain strong in the fourth quarter.
As we know, Türkiye's S235 Grade C steel crude steel output from January to July increased by 14.9% to 21.7 million tons. The new sheet metal factory controlled by Tosyali has started production in January, and other large producers are also increasing their production capacity. However, since the beginning of the year, the price of hot rolled coils in Türkiye has dropped by 20%, and is now 570 S235 Grade C steel dollars/ton.
