According to a report from the SG460W2 Grade C steel American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) on November 18th, the capacity utilization rate in the United States fell to 73.1% in the latest week ending November 16th, lower than its previous week's 74.2%, a week on week decrease of 1.1%, and also lower than the same period last year's 73.4%. It is reported that the steel production for that week was 1.623 million tons, a decrease of 1.6% from last week's 1.649 million tons, and a year-on-year decrease of 3.8%.
As of November 16th, the total steel SG460W2 Grade C steel production at this point in 2024 was 77.383 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1% compared to the same period last year, which was 79.047 million tons. In addition, the utilization rate of steel production capacity during the same period was 76%, slightly lower than 76.1% in the same period last year.
Specifically by region, the steel production for the week of November 16th was as follows: 120000 tons in Northeast China, 583000 tons in the Great Lakes region, 200000 tons in the central and western regions, 669000 tons in the southern region, and 51000 tons in the SG460W2 Grade C steel western region.
