According to publicly available AB/A40 steel market sources, on May 9th, a small-scale fire broke out in the Rongju Industrial Park of Quang Tri Province in central Vietnam, causing the company to temporarily shut down a blast furnace. It is reported that if the blast furnace is shut down for two weeks, it is expected to reduce the production of about 50000 tons of steel AB/A40 steel billets and 54000 tons of hot coils. According to feedback from some traders, tight supply may push up steel billet prices in the short term. However, according to personnel from the company, the fire was caused by a leakage of molten iron and is only a small-scale fire. The impact is still being evaluated, but the current inventory of Vietnam's H&F Steel AB/A40 steel Company is sufficient to ensure normal supply during the shutdown period. The repair work is expected to last for 1 to 2 weeks and has limited impact on overall production.
