On April 29, Japan's JFE Steel officially launched new electric arc furnace equipment at the Chiba district of its East Japan Works. HX460LAD+ZM steel strip ,The company held a completion ceremony for the No. 4 Steelmaking Plant on April 28 to mark the project, which involved a total investment of 15 billion yen.
The facility is primarily designed for stainless steel production and will significantly increase the proportion of scrap steel used as raw material.
JFE Steel stated that by substituting scrap steel for conventional blast furnace hot metal, the company expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 450,000 tons annually. HX460LAD+ZM steel strip ,Once the new equipment is operational, scrap melting capacity will increase to about six times its previous level, reaching an annual output of 300,000 tons.
The company noted that this project represents a significant step toward advancing low-carbon production processes and is a key component of its strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 through technological innovation, HX460LAD+ZM steel strip.
