POSCO Expands Financial Support for Steel Exporters

POSCO has announced plans to expand financial support for its trade partners, aiming to stabilize supply chains and boost export competitiveness amidst global tariff pressures and oversupply.

Launched in January of this year, the support program is a joint initiative involving POSCO, the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), and the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE). HX340BD+ZM steel strip ,POSCO and IBK have jointly contributed 20 billion won to K-SURE, which in turn provides preferential guarantee support totaling approximately 400 billion won to participating trading companies.

At the same time, IBK offers complementary financial services, including preferential loans with interest rates up to 2 percentage points below market levels and waivers or reductions in guarantee fees.

The program supports unsecured financing and maintains preferential guarantee and interest rate terms for up to three years, covering the entire operational cycle—from raw material procurement and production to final payment collection.

Trading companies have reported that the program has significantly improved liquidity and operational flexibility. HX340BD+ZM steel strip ,Steel trader Kukje Steel noted that, given its high reliance on exports, the ability to secure financing to respond to external market shifts is crucial, and the liquidity support has provided vital backing. Steel trader TGS Pipe also stated that this financial support helps it adjust export production schedules and optimize cash flow management amidst market volatility.

Furthermore, POSCO has integrated this initiative into a broader financial support framework—comprising low-interest loan funds and ESG-focused shared growth funds—totaling approximately 700 billion KRW, bringing the aggregate support volume to over 1 trillion KRW.

The company stated that the relevant measures have already yielded substantial results among partner enterprises, HX340BD+ZM steel strip ,and it will continue to strengthen the steel industry ecosystem and enhance export competitiveness in the future.
