Japanese steelmaker Chubu Steel Plate has announced a price increase of 5,000 yen per tonne for steel plates, effective with contracts starting in May. S350GD+AS steel strip ,The company had previously raised prices by 5,000 yen per tonne for contracts in December of last year; following this latest adjustment, the cumulative increase totals 10,000 yen per tonne.
This price hike primarily reflects rising costs for raw materials—such as steel scrap—and increased manufacturing expenses. S350GD+AS steel strip ,The company stated that it could not fully absorb these cost pressures through internal cost-cutting measures alone and therefore decided to pass the costs on to downstream customers.
In the domestic market, Japan's three major blast-furnace steelmakers—Nippon Steel, JFE Steel, and Kobe Steel—had already raised plate prices by 10,000 yen per tonne starting with April contracts.
