Philippine steel manufacturer SteelAsia Manufacturing Corporation and Vietnam’s Hoa Phat Group recently announced that they are advancing solar power projects at their respective steel plants.
On April 29, SteelAsia announced that it had signed a contract with Buskowitz Energy to construct an 8-megawatt-peak (MWp) rooftop solar project at its plant in Compostela, Cebu. Scheduled for completion in November, the project is expected to generate 12,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, meeting approximately 25% of the plant's total energy needs. HX300BD+ZM steel strip ,According to SteelAsia, the project will cover a rooftop area of about 65,560 square meters and utilize 12,888 solar panels and 54 inverters, making it the largest single rooftop solar system in the Philippines' heavy industry sector. SteelAsia’s Executive Vice Chairman stated that this is the company's second plant to install solar panels and expressed hope that similar projects could be rolled out at other facilities.
In Vietnam, Hoa Phat Group announced on April 28 plans to install a 5.2 MW rooftop solar power system at its Da Nang steel pipe plant, with completion expected in the third quarter. HX300BD+ZM steel strip ,The company stated that the project aims to boost self-sufficiency in clean energy for production, reduce costs, and contribute to environmental protection and carbon emission reductions.
