Primetals Technologies (hereinafter "Primetals") announced on April 9 that it has signed a contract with the Turkish long-product producer Kardemir to modernize the automation systems at its steel plant. JIS G 3313 SECD steel strip, The project will introduce advanced process optimization systems to enable the integrated management of the basic oxygen furnaces (BOFs) and secondary metallurgy equipment.

The project scope covers three 120-ton BOFs, four ladle furnaces (LF), and one vacuum degassing (VD) unit. JIS G 3313 SECD steel strip, Additionally, the new system will serve as a unified management platform, integrating metallurgical, production, and planning data into a single digital infrastructure.

Previously, the plant's various processing stages relied on independent systems; this upgrade will significantly enhance data consistency and production transparency. JIS G 3313 SECD steel strip, By implementing optimization software, the system aims to reduce the number of converter reblows, lower energy consumption during secondary metallurgy, and improve the overall product yield.

This project is reportedly part of the digital transformation of the Kardemir Karabuk steel plant. Primetals is also currently providing automation upgrades for the sintering plant at the same site.
