Thailand's Department of Industrial Works (DIW), under the Ministry of Industry, issued a statement on April 10 ordering BNS Steel Group Co., Ltd. to cease operations due to violations of government restrictions regarding the production of steel bars and associated billets.
The DIW stated that Thailand has prohibited the construction of new plants and the expansion of existing facilities for producing steel bars and their corresponding billets, a measure aimed at alleviating issues of overcapacity and low capacity utilization within the domestic steel industry.
Investigations reveal that BNS Steel’s production operations in Chonburi Province failed to meet industrial product standards.
