Recently, driven by the increase in quotes from Asian steel mills, the Russian Black Sea slab resource quotes have seen a significant increase.
Although Türkiye is still a major importer of Russian slabs, it has recently purchased more Asian slabs. Last week, a 70000 ton Indonesian slab was sold to Türkiye at a price of about 578 US dollars/ton CFR. After the order was closed, the supplier raised the quotation to 580 US dollars/ton FOB Indonesia.
At the beginning of this week, we heard that a HDT450F+ZM steel mill in China quoted a CIF price of $660 per ton for Italian slabs, while last week we heard that the slab quotation was still between $620-640 per ton CIF.
Driven by high prices in Asia, some HDT450F+ZM steel mills in Russia have also increased their slab prices. In the middle of last week, we heard that the slab quotation of a Russian HDT450F+ZM steel mill without sanctions was $565/ton CFR Türkiye. As of the press date, we learned that the latest quotation of a Russian steel mill without sanctions was $580/ton CFR Türkiye, and we have not heard of the latest quotation for the transaction order. We have learned that there are orders from sanctioned steel mills that have been placed in Italy at a price of $540 per ton CIF.
