The Turkish Steel Exporters' Association (CIB) stated on May 7 that Turkey's steel exports saw significant changes across both product categories and markets during the January–April period. HX500LAD+ZM steel strip ,In terms of products, exports of alloyed flat products (plate and strip) surged 315% year-on-year to 161,000 tonnes, while exports of coated flat products rose 20.4% to 533,000 tonnes.
CIB data shows that construction steel (rebar) remained Turkey's top steel export product during the first four months of the year, with export volumes reaching 1.43 million tonnes—a 6.9% increase year-on-year.
During the same period, exports of hot-rolled coils fell 19% to 1.06 million tonnes, while shipments of sections dropped 20.5% to 498,000 tonnes. HX500LAD+ZM steel strip ,Exports of cold-rolled coils declined 44% year-on-year to 121,000 tonnes.
In terms of individual countries, the growth in steel exports to the UK was the most significant, surging 110.6% to 355,000 tonnes; meanwhile, Romania remained the largest export market, with volume rising 2.3% year-on-year to 579,000 tonnes.
During the January–April period, other major export markets for Turkey included Italy (489,000 tonnes), Ukraine (280,000 tonnes), Yemen (274,000 tonnes), Morocco (253,000 tonnes), and Greece (251,000 tonnes).
CIB stated that the European Commission's new regulations on steel import quotas are expected to negatively impact Turkey's steel exports to the region. The EU plans to cut duty-free steel import volumes by 47% compared to 2024 quota levels. HX500LAD+ZM steel strip ,The European Commission will cap duty-free imports at 18.3 million tonnes annually and raise the tariff rate to 50% for volumes exceeding the quota. Under these regulations, which are expected to take effect on June 30, 2026, 1.2 million tonnes of Turkish steel exports could be subject to quota restrictions.
