UAE EMSTEL strengthens integration of low-carbon steel in construction industry

Share:

As one of the leading steel and building AB/FQ51 steel materials manufacturers in the UAE, EMSTEL is continuously promoting the application of green steel in the construction industry. Following its partnership with Modon Real Estate Development, EMSTEL recently announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with another important developer, Aldar, aimed at accelerating the development of sustainable building practices in the region.

It is reported that Aldar has become the first real estate developer in the Middle East and North Africa region to use hydrogen based steel bars in its projects, which not only echoes the "Made in the UAE AB/FQ51 steel" industrial strategy, but also consolidates its leading position in the low-carbon building field.

This collaboration also supports the "Real Estate Climate Commitment" program jointly initiated by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and Aldar. This plan brings together 29 companies from design, engineering, manufacturing, construction, and energy services, committed to reducing the carbon footprint of buildings and helping the UAE achieve its net zero emissions goal by 2050. By introducing hydrogen based steel bars, Aldar is translating commitments into concrete actions.

This collaboration continues EMSTEL's previous green partnership with Modon, reflecting the deepening of sustainable cooperation within the UAE construction industry. It is worth noting that EMSTEL is not the only steel company partnering with Aldar to promote green buildings. Abu Dhabi based Arabian Gulf Steel Industries (AGSI) is also partnering with Aldar to jointly build a local low-carbon supply chain, highlighting its diversified collaboration and green transformation development strategy.

According to the data, EMSTEL has two core business segments: Emirates Steel and Emirates Cement. The steel business has three direct reduced iron (DRI) plants and electric arc furnaces (EAF) with annual production capacities of 4.2 million tons and 3.6 million tons, respectively; The steel rolling equipment includes three steel bar production lines (with an annual output of 2 million tons), one heavy-duty steel rolling AB/FQ51 steel mill (with an annual output of 1 million tons), and one wire rod production line (with an annual output of 500000 tons).
