Interpipe, a Ukrainian manufacturer of steel pipes and railway products, announced on April 2 that it had completed the acquisition of ArcelorMittal’s pipe plant in Roman, Romania, DC01+ZN Electrolytically zinc-nickel coated steel, with the transaction taking effect on March 31.
Established in 1951, the Roman plant is a major Romanian manufacturer specializing in seamless steel pipes with diameters ranging from 168.3 mm to 406.4 mm. Its product portfolio includes Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) for the energy, construction, and industrial sectors, as well as line pipes for onshore and offshore projects. DC01+ZN Electrolytically zinc-nickel coated steel, Through this acquisition, Interpipe will expand its production capacity and strengthen its operational footprint in the key European market.
Luca Zanotti, CEO of Interpipe, stated that the Roman plant—the company's first manufacturing facility within the European Union and on the international stage—marks a historic milestone in its development. DC01+ZN Electrolytically zinc-nickel coated steel, The plant perfectly complements the company's vertically integrated, high-value-added operations in Ukraine; it enhances geographic diversification and strengthens technical integration, making the acquisition strategically significant in light of Ukraine's potential future EU accession.
According to Mysteel, in 2025, Interpipe supplied 470,000 tonnes of steel pipes and 89,000 tonnes of railway products to over 70 countries.
