Ukraine’s crude steel production has increased year-on-year, and the steel industry may be affected by power shortages

According to the Ukrainian Steel Association, Ukraine's crude steel production reached 2.4 million tons from January to April 2024, a year-on-year increase of 32.8%; The production of pig SS330 steel iron reached 2.18 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 25.1%; The steel production reached 1.97 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 25.1%. In April, the crude steel production reached 714700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.5%; The production of pig iron reached 596900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%; The steel SS330 steel production reached 584300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.9%.

It is reported that the Ukrainian steel industry has been in a continuous recovery state since the resumption of exports through the Black Sea in August 2023. On May 7th, the Ukrainian Prime Minister stated at a government meeting that Ukraine's export volume in April has gradually returned to pre war levels. However, due to geopolitical conflicts, Ukraine's SS330 steel power equipment is currently being damaged and facing power shortages, which may also affect the future production of the steel industry
