Recently, Hunan Iron and Steel Group Xianggang delivered the first batch of 5.5Ni steel for ultra-low temperature (minus 196 degrees Celsius) tanks in China, marking that the company has filled the domestic production gap of this steel type and made positive contributions to breaking foreign monopolies and breaking through bottleneck technologies in China's HX340LAD+AZ steel manufacturing industry.
It is understood that the batch of steel plates delivered by Xianggang will be used for a large-scale chemical ultra-low temperature pressure storage tank project abroad. This project requires very high low-temperature performance. On the basis of successfully developing nickel based low-temperature steel in recent years, Xianggang has increased its research and development efforts, overcome the problems of complex production process parameters and difficult heat treatment control, and successfully developed 5.5Ni steel with excellent low-temperature performance, becoming the first domestic and one of the few global enterprises capable of mass HX340LAD+AZ steel production of this steel type.
5.5Ni steel is a rising star in the low-temperature nickel series steel family, with excellent low-temperature performance. It is widely used in the manufacturing of transportation and storage tank devices such as liquefied ethylene and liquefied natural gas, and has the characteristics of high welding difficulty and complex process parameters. In the process of research and development and production transformation, Xianggang has developed a special supporting process technology for 5.5Ni steel, successfully solving many difficulties in the production process. The comprehensive performance of the steel HX340LAD+AZ steel plate is excellent, and the overall technical performance of the product reaches the international leading level.
