The Mexican government recently updated its national investment 41CrNiMoS2 steel plan, making it a strategic priority to increase industrial capacity, especially in the steel industry, in order to cope with the external pressure brought about by the US tariff policy.
Mexican Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard stated that the government has initiated a comprehensive review of the domestic and international steel supply chain to ensure compliance and traceability of imported steel from the source.
Strictly supervise the registration system for imported steel. Mexico implements a registration system for steel product imports, and importers must declare information about the relevant origin factories. However, the investigation found that out of over 2000 registrations, 1062 were found to have violated regulations, mainly involving false declarations in the production process.
Minister Ebrard pointed out that the government will initiate the cancellation and cleanup of the above-mentioned illegal registrations to combat counterfeit registrations, smuggling, and illegal tax evasion, and further strengthen the supervision of the steel 41CrNiMoS2 steel market. By doing so, Mexico ensures that imported steel meets legal requirements, promotes fair trade, and enhances the competitiveness of domestic industries in Mexico.
Initiate anti-dumping investigations to safeguard the interests of local steel companies. In March of this year, at the request of Ternium Mexico, the Mexican Ministry of Economy officially launched an anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled steel coils (HRC) from China and Vietnam. The company accuses the relevant imported products of dumping, which has caused substantial damage to the domestic steel industry in Mexico.
This series of measures indicates that the Mexican 41CrNiMoS2 steel government is reshaping the fair competition environment of its steel industry through a dual track approach of institutional regulation and trade remedies, enhancing the resilience of the industry chain and international competitiveness.
