Thyssenkrupp Materials Services recently announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Mexico’s Aceroteca Trading, a strategic move aimed at expanding its North American footprint and capitalizing on the growing trend of nearshoring. JIS G 3313 SEFC340 steel strip, Aceroteca operates a heavy-gauge carbon steel processing and service center in Santa Catarina—part of the Monterrey metropolitan area and one of Mexico’s key industrial hubs. The facility offers a modern, scalable processing platform that enables closer proximity to customers, shorter lead times, and enhanced supply chain efficiency.
According to Heather Wjdekop, CEO of the Processing business unit, the transaction enhances the company's ability to meet demands for localized production and distribution. It expands capabilities and customer reach—Aceroteca currently supplies sectors such as heating, cooling, and power transmission—while providing additional capacity for both existing and new customers. JIS G 3313 SEFC340 steel strip, The deal is expected to strengthen the market presence of ThyssenKrupp Materials Services’ Coil Processing Group in the region. Although the initial focus will remain on carbon flat-rolled products, the platform offers the potential to expand into other product areas.
