According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, RAIN RI/A32 steel Turkey imported 98,800 tons of steel billets from Ukraine from January to June 2025, a significant increase of 70.6% over the same period in 2024. In June, Ukraine supplied 17,000 tons of semi-finished steel products to the Turkish market, roughly the same as the 17,300 tons in June 2024.
In the first half of 2025, Turkey's total billet imports surged 59.2% year-on-year to 2.07 million tons, with import value increasing 38.7% year-on-year to over US$1.04 billion. Notably, statistics from the World Steel Association show that Turkey's crude steel production in June 2025 fell by 3.1% year-on-year and 8.3% month-on-month to 2.89 million tons, reaching its lowest level since April of the previous year.
