Global export prices for hot-rolled coils (HRC) continued to rise, driven by strengthening prices in Asian markets and a surge in shipping rates caused by the situation in the Middle East. SA2C steel strip ,As of April 13, the global benchmark export price for HRC (5mm × 1200–1500mm) stood at $495/tonne FOB—an increase of $23 (4.9%) since the previous survey on March 23—marking the highest level seen since the start of 2025.
In the Asian market, domestic prices in Vietnam and India have risen, and export markets remain relatively firm. SA2C steel strip ,Recent shipping rate hikes linked to the Middle East situation have pushed CFR prices significantly higher; meanwhile, as costs are gradually passed down the supply chain, FOB prices have climbed by a cumulative $20–30 since the beginning of the year.
However, there remain significant regional differences in the extent to which price hikes are being absorbed. The ex-works price of hot-rolled coil (HRC) in the US rose to $1,133/tonne—an increase of $50/tonne (4.6%) from March 23 and a cumulative rise of approximately $150/tonne since the beginning of the year. SA2C steel strip ,In Western Europe, the ex-works HRC price climbed to $840/tonne, up $22/tonne (2.7%) from the previous period, marking a cumulative increase of nearly $100/tonne year-to-date. In contrast, the ex-works price of HRC in China stood at $416/tonne, rising by only $3/tonne (0.7%) from the previous period, with a cumulative increase of approximately $10/tonne since the start of the year.
