Malaysia makes preliminary anti-dumping ruling on galvanized steel sheets related to China

On July 4, 2025, the Ministry BV/A620 steel of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia announced a preliminary positive anti-dumping determination on galvanized steel sheets (Flat rolled Products of iron alloy or non alloy steel, plated or coated with zinc, using hot dip process) originating from or imported from China, South Korea and Vietnam, and decided to impose temporary anti-dumping duties of no more than 120 days on the products involved in the above-mentioned countries, with China's duties ranging from 3.86% to 26.80%, South Korea's duties ranging from 8.97% to 31.47%, and Vietnam's BV/A620 steel duties ranging from 11.41% to 57.90%, respectively. This measure will take effect from July 7th, 2025. The final ruling of this case is expected to be made no later than November 3, 2025.

On February 6, 2025, the Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry issued a notice to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on galvanized steel sheets originating from or imported from China, South Korea and Vietnam BV/A620 steel, in response to an application submitted by the domestic production enterprise CSC Steel Sdn. Bhd. The Malaysian Harmonized Tariff Number and ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Number (AHTN) of the products involved are 7210.49.100, 7210.49.14 00, 7210.49.15 00, 7210.49.16 00, 7210.49.17 00, 7210.49.18 00, 7210.49.19 00, 7210.49.99 00, 7212.30.11 00, 7212.30.12 00, 7212.30.13 00, 7212.30.14 00, 7212.30.19 00, 7212.30.90 00, 7225.92.20 00, 7225.92.99 00, 7226.9911 00, 7226.99.19 00, 7226.9.91 00, and 7226.9.999.
