Russian rebar shipments fell slightly in July

Due to continued weak domestic demand, rising inventory levels and expectations of falling prices, Russian steel mills plan to slightly reduce rebar shipments in July.

According to industry statistics, rebar production is expected to reach 810,000 tons in July, a 2% decrease from the previous month. Domestic shipments are expected to decrease by 3% to 575,000 tons. KR R/E70 steel The faster-than-expected slowdown in construction demand has led to a continuous buildup of inventories among traders and steel mills. Concerned about further accumulation of high-priced inventory, market competition has intensified, prompting companies to offer price concessions to boost sales. Currently, many traders and steel mills have adopted an "open price" sales model, adjusting prices weekly for unshipped inventory to maintain production lines. This strategy, combined with steel mills' arrangements to ship to their own channels, has effectively mitigated the decline in shipments.

Meanwhile, rebar exports are expected to grow by 2% to 235,000 tons. KR R/E70 steel Constrained by the challenging domestic market environment, Russian steel mills are actively exploring overseas customers and offering more flexible payment terms.

According to data, in the first half of 2025, Russia's total rebar shipments were just under 4.83 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2%. Of this, domestic sales were 3.28 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 15%, KR R/E70 steel while exports were 1.55 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 49%.
