Türkiye Steel Exporters' Association (∨ B) recently said that it planned to increase Türkiye's steel exports by 5% by 2025. In 2024, Türkiye's SGV410 steel total steel exports will reach 17.7 million tons, of which the main export products are construction steel, hot rolled plates, welded pipes, profiles and coated steel. The export destinations are concentrated in Romania, Italy, Yemen, Ukraine and Iraq.
Chairwoman Adnan Aslan said that in 2024, Türkiye's SGV410 steel steel industry will perform well in terms of exports, especially the investment in high value-added products has begun to show results, among which the growth of investment in the plate sector has played a key role in the recovery of exports. Looking forward to 2025, the market strategy of Türkiye's steel enterprises will further expand to North Africa, West Africa and South America, and have begun to sell steel to Syria.
In the African market, Türkiye's steel enterprises have certain advantages over their main competitors. Due to the imperfect banking system in most African countries, it is difficult for local traders to open letters of credit, while European and Türkiye traders can use credit sales for transactions, which makes Türkiye's competitiveness in the region better than that of Chinese steel enterprises relying on letter of credit settlement. In addition, it is expected that after June 2025, Türkiye's exports to Israel and Palestine may recover, while its exports to the South American market will also continue to grow.
Aslan also pointed SGV410 steel out that geopolitical changes may create new opportunities for Türkiye's steel industry. With the end of the Syrian war and the potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, the uncertainty of the regional market may be reduced, providing new growth space for Türkiye's steel exports. At the same time, in order to further promote global market layout, Ç İ B organized multiple trade delegations in 2024 to countries such as Lithuania, Germany, Tunisia, France, Azerbaijan, Romania, and Georgia, and plans to expand the delegations to Egypt, Morocco, Kosovo, Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Greece in 2025 to deepen international cooperation and expand export channels.
